While working with a product-design group in Helsinki, Finland, I was invited to participate in an experimental furniture exhibition there. An expat at the time, I imagined a chair for diplomats, made of interwoven flags.
I found these chair frames at a secondhand store, and painted the flags on old bedsheets. The nations represented in these two prototypes are Finland and USA on the left, and China and Tibet on the right.
Designed and produced for the fifth annual Anteeksi Milari Furniture Exhibition in Helsinki, Finland. To be sat in for maximum diplomacy.
