I’m Erich (he/him), a writer and artist in Brooklyn, New York. I run Erich Nagler Design Studio, specializing in creative writing and visual storytelling. I am originally from Dallas, Texas, where I attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (’00). I earned my Eagle Scout badge from Troop 42. I moved to New York in 2000 to attend Parsons School of Design. I’ve lived in New York pretty much ever since.
I was previously the global lead art director for Google Doodles (2017–’24). Before that, I was the lead art director at the publishing platform Medium (2014–’17). I was an art director at The New York Times (2012–’14), during Barack Obama’s first and second term.
My first job after graduation was as an interior decorator’s assistant. When not writing or drawing, you can find me woodworking, printmaking, singing, dancing, and learning español.
