Hi, I’m Erich Nagler. I am a writer and artist in Brooklyn, NY. I run Erich Nagler Design Studio, where I specialize in creative writing and visual storytelling. I am originally from Dallas, TX, where I attended Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. I also earned my Eagle Scout badge. I moved to New York in 2000 to attend Parsons School of Design. I’ve lived in New York pretty much ever since.

I was previously the global lead art director for Google Doodles (2017–’24). Before that, I was the lead art director at the publishing platform Medium (2014–’17). And I was an art director at The New York Times (2012–’14), during Barack Obama’s first and second term.

When not writing and drawing, you can find me woodworking, printmaking, practicing yoga, singing, dancing, and learning español.
